Took my camera and walked around Singapore over few nights to capture the Christmas Street Decoration.

I am staying at 17th floor. But occasionally, there will be interesting visitors coming over to pay a visit…. I would call these visitors creatures.

As far as possible, I will get my camera, but on my macro lens, and take photos of these creatures visitors….

Some are very co-operative to be my model, but most are not…. now I am putting these photos up…

Nature and Wild Photos at Telok Blangah Hill

It was a Good Friday Public Holiday.
Walked up to Henderson Wave, Southern Rift and walk over to Telok Blangah Hill.

From the Henderson Wave, walk along the path at Telok Blangah Hill, through the Forest Walk and finally at HortPark.

Good that my wife was with me. She has a sharp eye for small details. She spotted these interesting subjects and I shot them.

Great to see some interesting animals in the wild and nature environment.

Chinatown Chinese New Year Countdown

I was at Chinatown last night for the Chinese New Year Countdown. It was so crowded, despite that it was raining.

I was quite late. I managed to find a spot at Chinatown Complex carpark, where I can park my tripod.

I was a bit disappointed by the timing sequence. Just before fire cracker was finished, they started the fireworks. It was so much smoke that the fireworks was hardly visible.

Anyway, I still managed to capture some shots.

Shooting at Rain

It was raining very heavily when I woke up in the morning. It is still raining when I am writing this post.

At idea came to me as I open my eyes. Why not, I set my lens to manual mode, switch on the flash, set the shutter speed to be very fast and shoot at the rain? Maybe I could get some shots of the rain drops.

I quickly got out of the bed and tried it out.

100mm, 1/200s, f/2.8 ISO 400

Shooting straight - 17mm, 1/200s, ISO 400

Shooting Downwards - 17mm, 1/200s, f/2.8, ISO 400

The effect look very snowy and artistic to me.

After the a few rounds, I concluded the following:

It does not matter, if I set to manual or automatic focus. The best is the distance subject is in focus. It provides some form of background. Even if the subject is out of focus, it could be artistic in some form.
I set the highest shutter speed. I don’t know why, when I switch on the flash unit, the camera only around 1/200s as fastest shutter speed. I think I need to read up on this.

I had some fun using my camera.
