In the past, everything was loaded at one shot. Now, Facebook Cafe World is loading portions by portions. As a result, we can easily capture the screen sequence of the loading.

It was all started when I messed around with my wife’s Facebook Cafe World Game. I did so much mischief that, she made me add Cafe World game application in my own Facebook account.

After a short while playing “progressively” with the Cafe World game, I began to put my creativity in the Cafe World game on the layout.

According to the Cafe World Strategy Guide, the layout, how to decorate the cafe, placement of the tables etc will not only impact the ambiance of the place. It will also affect the cafe ability to succeed in the game and grow business.

There were two general suggestions from Cafe World Strategy Guide on layout.

First was to have easy access for the customers. The furniture has to be arranged such that the customers are able to get to all available tables and chairs.

The second was to was to “Save the Waiter’s Legs”. This was to arrange the furniture in such a way to minimize the time getting back and forth from the serving counters to the tables. And to help the waiters more time to serve the customers, we can give the customer a “long walk to their tables”, even “putting in a lot of twists and turns”.

The first was easy. I arranged the tables and chairs in a single row. The customers can easily access to all the chairs and tables.

To “Save the Waiter’s Legs”, I minimized the distance the between the tables and the serving counters. In fact, the distance was only a corridor of single square units.

I put in a lot of effort to ensure that the customers would take a long time to reach the tables. In fact, I think I reached a point of overdoing so.

I put rows of barriers in such a manner that the customers have to walk zig-zag for half the cafe before they can reach the tables. I wanted to make a maze using the barriers. Unfortunately, I do not have enough space in the restaurant for me to make an effective one. Maybe after I had expanded my cafe bigger, I would make another attempt to make a complex maze.

The final result that I observed was, at any one time, at most, four out of the eight tables were occupied. But it is really interesting to watch the customers walking a long, long way, half of the cafe to and fro the door and tables. And because of the long walk, the cafe look very “crowded”.

The Facebook Cafe World is an interesting game for us to try out the various layout. I will be definitely trying out more complex layout to make the customers walk, and make the customers walk a lot more! There could be more ideas from Cafe World Strategy Guide for us to try out.

In these places, I found that I had to start from ground zero in term of cash. There is absolutely 0 cash in either place. Next thing, I found that there is absolutely no use for Influence Points. The consolation was that, by default, each of these two places started with a small business which generated some income every 3 hours.

Mafia Wars Cuba was much worse off. The starting job, requiring 11 Energy, only provided C$227 minus the bribe. And the next job, Secure A Safehouse, required us to purchase items totaling C$5,000. This job cost 33 Energy only provided C$682. Proportionally, there was not much difference doing either job. The business was generate only C$200 every 3 hours. It cost C$12,000 to buy the next business.

In short, the main challenge in Mafia Wars Cuba was low income but expensive items.

Despite of that, I realized that, it was not that difficult to gain ground in this challenging Mafia Wars Cuba. I simply applied what I learned from a book I recently read – Rich Dad’s Increase Your Financial IQ: Get Smarter with Your Money.

Making Money

This was the most fundamental – make money. One challenge in Mafia Wars Cuba was that each job generated very little income. But little income was better than none. So instead of doing any more jobs in Mafia Wars New York, I spent all the Energy doing jobs in Mafia Wars Cuba getting the little income. And after realizing the portion in the income vs Energy, I put gaining mastery aside. I just focused on doing the same job over and over again. Step-by-step, little-by-little, we can create the required amount to help us to gain sufficient grounds in Mafia Wars Cuba.

Protect the Money

The bank in Mafia Wars Cuba was expensive. They charged 10% for each deposit. But I realized that, not depositing the money in bank was even more expensive. At one time, I managed to gain slightly more than C$7,000 through the job and business. When I logged again several hours later, I was taken back to see the balance was now less than C$5,000. During these hours, there were other players challenged me for fights. And when I lost, I lost a portion of the money to the other player. As a result, I lost C$2,000. This was 30% lost, more expensive than the bank charge. So now, I put the money in the bank to get it protected. This protection ensured that the money gained would not be lost to other players in Fights.

Leveraging Money

This was especially in the game Mafia Wars Cuba and most other Facebook games. The mode of doing so in Mafia Wars Cuba was to purchase and upgrade business. After days of doing jobs and ripping from the C$200 per 3 hours business, I managed to buy the next tier business – Tobacco Plantation. It gave addition C$400 every 3 hours. Although it did not look much, I practically stop doing job in Mafia Wars Cuba from that point onwards. I focused my Energy back to Mafia Wars New York jobs to gain Mastery. I used the income from these 2 businesses to buy upgrades in the business. Soon, the income grew from C$600 to over C$1,000 every 3 hours. And it was still growing.

Mafia Wars Cuba’s condition of low income but expensive items may pose a challenge when we first entered this arena. But by applying what these knowledge, we can easily gain ground.

I have suspected there are some occasional bugs in the Mafia Wars Game or is this intentional?

The first time was during the Halloween special Job – Rob the Candy Truck. According to the rule, we can only rob the candy truck once a day at most. During the second day, after robbing the truck for the first time, it allowed me to rob it again! And it even allowed me to rob it for the third time. Too bad, I did not have enough energy to rob it for the third time. But later in the day, when I log onto it again, it did not allow me to rob it again…

And for the rest of the Halloween Special Session, I could not rob the Candy Truck more than once….. So much for the bug…. Anyway, I got my bonus of an extra loot!

The other time was this morning. The problem with the Rackets is that after some time, it is not the money issue. It is the problem of not enough influence points to shake down the rackets.

This morning, I was surprised to find the influence point missing from the heading. Instead of using influence points for the shake up, it required Money or cash…. I quickly started at least 5 rackets shake down. I would have to wait for days or even weeks to accumulate that amount of influence points to do the same thing.

AND….. a few hours later, the Mafia Wars was back to “normal” again… and have to use influence point instead of cash for shaking down the rackets…..

But, I have made a killing already anyway.

I wonder what other occasional bugs would I encountered in the future… And hopefully, can again make a killing from these bugs!
