<p>In the first picture, because of the reflection on the water surface, we can hardly see the fishes in the water.</p>
<p>Thank to the <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&amp;location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fs%3Fie%3DUTF8%26x%3D0%26ref_%3Dnb%255Fss%26y%3D0%26field-keywords%3DCircular%2520Polarizing%2520Filter%26url%3Dsearch-alias%253Daps&amp;tag=stopebusinfru-20&amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957" target=blank>Circular Polarizing Filter</a><img style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" src="https://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=stopebusinfru-20&amp;l=ur2&amp;o=1" border="0" alt="" width="1" height="1" />, we can see the fishes in the water more clearly. However, in this picture, the ground above the water surface look washed out.</p>
<p>The <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&amp;location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fs%3Fie%3DUTF8%26x%3D0%26ref_%3Dnb%255Fss%26y%3D0%26field-keywords%3DCircular%2520Polarizing%2520Filter%26url%3Dsearch-alias%253Daps&amp;tag=stopebusinfru-20&amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957" target=blank>Circular Polarizing Filter</a><img style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" src="https://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=stopebusinfru-20&amp;l=ur2&amp;o=1" border="0" alt="" width="1" height="1" /> can easily help to reduce the reflection on the water surface, so that we can shoot beyond the water surface, what is in the water.</p>

The <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&amp;location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fs%3Fie%3DUTF8%26x%3D0%26ref_%3Dnb%255Fss%26y%3D0%26field-keywords%3DCircular%2520Polarizing%2520Filter%26url%3Dsearch-alias%253Daps&amp;tag=stopebusinfru-20&amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957" target="blank">circular polarizing filter</a><img style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" src="https://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=stopebusinfru-20&amp;l=ur2&amp;o=1" border="0" alt="" width="1" height="1" /> has 2 rings, one is a fixed ring to be mounted on the lens and the other is a rotating ring for the photographer to adjust the level of effect.</p>
<p>The effect is best noticed in the following two photos (<em>click on the photo for a bigger view</em>):</p>
<div id="attachment_97" class="wp-caption alignnone" style="width: 210px"><a href="http://www.kimloon.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/IMG_9176-1.JPG"><img class="size-medium wp-image-97" title="Circular Polarizing Filter Effect" src="http://www.kimloon.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/IMG_9176-1-200x300.jpg" alt="Circular Polarizing Filter Effect" width="200" height="300" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Circular Polarizing Filter Effect</p></div>

<p>No post processing were made on these two photos. It can be easily noticed that with the <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&amp;location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fs%3Fie%3DUTF8%26x%3D0%26ref_%3Dnb%255Fss%26y%3D0%26field-keywords%3DCircular%2520Polarizing%2520Filter%26url%3Dsearch-alias%253Daps&amp;tag=stopebusinfru-20&amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957" target="blank">circular polarizing filter</a><img style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" src="https://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=stopebusinfru-20&amp;l=ur2&amp;o=1" border="0" alt="" width="1" height="1" />, the sky was darker and the water reflection was not so noticeable.</p>
<p>The <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&amp;location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fs%3Fie%3DUTF8%26x%3D0%26ref_%3Dnb%255Fss%26y%3D0%26field-keywords%3DCircular%2520Polarizing%2520Filter%26url%3Dsearch-alias%253Daps&amp;tag=stopebusinfru-20&amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957" target="blank">Circular Polarizing Filter</a><img style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" src="https://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=stopebusinfru-20&amp;l=ur2&amp;o=1" border="0" alt="" width="1" height="1" /> is a useful tool for the photographer to create the effect wanted.</p>
