Bangkok Working Trip July 09

I just returned from a three and half days working trip in Bangkok. I did not have much of walking around, but I still have some interesting experiences.

No Tom Yam or Green Curry

Thailand is famous for Tom Yam and Green Curry, and most people would not miss these two famous Thai dishes.

I had Vietnamese food for a lunch, Indian food for a Dinner and a few times of American breakfast. I had also taken fried rice, fish, chicken cooked with different styles. But amazingly I did not have Tom Yan or Green Curry. Simply no ones ordered these two signature dishes.

Maybe I did not have these two signature dishes; I enjoyed other amazing delicious Thai food. Examples of these Thai foods are cockle salad, beef sticks, Thai fried kway teow, etc.

“Banned” Item in Laptop Bag

During a working discussion, I needed to get some item from the laptop bag. When I opened the front pouch, I saw a surprised item. When I lifted that item up to show everyone, they were shocked to know that it was inside my laptop bag when I hand carried the item into the plane.

It was a pair of scissors. This is one of the items banned from being hand carried into the airplane due to the fear of terrorist. Maybe I put it in some time earlier for some reason but forgot to take out. Anyway, I was amazed that it passed through the security check without being detected.

Laptop in Check-In Luggage

I needed to carry two laptops for this trip, one as my personal one and the other for an exhibition. I found it strange to hand carry two laptops. Image when the custom security officers asked me to take out my laptop from the bag, I have to take out two.

For this reason, I decided to put one laptop in my check-in luggage. I put my personal laptop in a laptop bag. I cushion the laptop bag between my clothes. I did the same for my return journey.

So far, despite the cargo handling, my laptop is still working properly. I am using the laptop to type this. Look like cargo handling is not as notorious as most people said, or my laptop is a tough one to survive the handling.
